Herringbone Flooring

The bewildering array of decisions that go into a home design project are enough to make anyone overwhelmed at times! Often enough, those small design details can make a living space absolutely spectacular! Something as subtle as the pattern in your interior finishes can create major impact and bring your living space to a whole new design level.

The herringbone pattern is created by placing rectangles in a staggered zigzag pattern, as shown below in the first picture. It is commonly found in tile work and parquet floors and adds sophisticated visual texture to any type of finish!

If you're wondering how to add a bit more interest to your home project, flooring laid in herringbone pattern may be the perfect way to add that little bit of "oomph!" you were looking for! Using a herringbone pattern creates more movement, guides the eye and makes the space feel more open and airy.

Take a look at the gorgeous herringbone floors below!

Concrete In Design

The industrial look in the interior design world has been around for a very long time. But lately, it seems to be everywhere.

Even though we are not all lucky enough to live in an old converted warehouse that is covered from top to bottom in authentic industrial style (oh how I wish!), there are ways to give your home a very urban industrial feel.

Concrete is an obvious choice and in recent months we have witnessed a huge increase in the use of concrete in interior design. Designers are now using concrete in unexpected and unusual ways. It would seem that there is nothing that can’t be made using this versatile material.

From furniture to light fixtures, countertops to bathtubs - concrete is able to bring an industrial flair to the heart of any home. Everyone is falling in love with this cheap building material - which has now transformed into a must-have design component that supplies endless amounts of inspiration.

Take a look at these houses that feature concrete! Which one is your favorite??

Let me know which one is your favourite! I love to hear from you guys!
